YOUR HARRY POTTER STORY… ON HOGWARTS LEGACY
The gameplay of Hogwarts Legacy shown started with a look at the editor with which to create your own character (“a fifth-year student with the rare ability to master ancient and powerful magic”), who will then be called upon to wear the iconic hat for the selection of the house to which he will belong and with which he will participate in magic classes. “Players will be able to relive the feelings experienced by Harry as a new student at a magic school, unaware of all that awaits him.

EXPLORATION: THE CASTLE AND BEYOND
The castle will be freely explorable between classes and will contain puzzles, rooms, hidden passages and secret dungeons to discover. Despite the distance from the films and books (the time setting is in the late 1800s), there will be familiar faces “like the Weasleys” and locations famous among fans as familiar haunts such as the Great Hall, the Clock Tower, and the infirmary.
You’ll be able to travel to a village near Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, in order to buy new costumes and potion components, although the journeys will be quite dangerous, with high-ranking enemies waiting for you once you’ve crossed the school gate. It will also be possible to use a magic broom to be mastered in courses and wandering around the world to unlock faster travel between points in the world. The same goes for the magical creatures that inhabit Hogwarts: by wandering the world and attending classes, you will discover more about them.
FIGHTING
Enemies will have specific abilities and characteristics, such as shields and enchanted weapons, which will require a different approach for each of them. This will also include the use of props such as explosive barrels, and real spell combos (among the most well-known in the Wizarding World, such as Lumen, the Spell of Disillusionment, Petrificus Totalus). It will also be possible to use a type of dark magic “that even your professors don’t understand”.
By completing challenges and beating enemies you’ll be able to choose talents on which to invest your experience points, and you’ll be able to collect loot with pieces of equipment of various rarities, which in turn can be upgraded through an internal crafting system (this includes both the magic wand and the defensive aspect). You’ll be able to create potions to use in the middle of fights to get temporary boosts and heal yourself, and more. The fights will be challenging, but there will be a variety of difficulty levels to choose from, and most importantly, the game will be exclusively single-player, although there will be non-playable characters with us in some missions.
THE ROOM OF NEEDS
Our character will be able to befriend a cast of classmates and discover their secrets, complete dedicated story missions, and more. There will also be a Room of Requirement to be treated and expand, of course with strokes of magic and unexpected implications: it will go from growing plants for potions, with real-time timer before you can collect them, to prepare the potions themselves, passing through a huge vivarium that we will give access to an elf named Deek and that will be fully customizable (it is so big that we can place an entire cottage by hand, and not only).
The world will be dynamic and alive even outside the school of magic, then, and the same will apply to the seasons: as the school year goes on, we will go from the heat of summer to the snow of winter, with extreme weather conditions such as lightning, rain and more.
WHEN HOGWARTS LEGACY COMES OUT
The long walkthrough of Hogwarts Legacy ended with a launch window: holiday 2022, or “for the winter of 2022”. So the exact release date has not been revealed, but at least there are, for now, no further postponements than last year. The launch is scheduled for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
The event ended with the promised closing parenthesis given by the development team, who explained how this is an original story in the Wizarding World and pointed out how the fact that the player character only joins the school of magic in the fifth year, which is quite unusual…
