The mobile strategy card video games scene is thriving and even though there are some let downs, like the fact that Elder Scrolls Legends is stuck in limbo by going into only maintenance mode, we still have tons of other games that are still growing or flourishing with a live concurrent player base that offer a unique and fun, competitive card collection journey!
Elder Scrolls Legends – iOS, Android, PC, Mac.
Elder Scrolls Legends is a mobile strategy card video game that is available on iOS and Android devices along with a PC and Mac version. The objective of the game is to collect cards and create decks that can be used to battle other players. The game features two modes: singleplayer and multiplayer. In singleplayer mode, players can complete quests and earn rewards. In multiplayer mode, players can compete against other players in real-time.
The gameplay is composed of 2 lanes 1 being the normal lane where things play out normally by just laying a card and the card playing to its ability or lack of it as normal. The right lane is the shadow lane where your card is not able to be attacked for the first turn unless there is an ability that allows the opponent to attach it.
It is more of a aggressive one on one combat between players and their cards when compared to Gwent where it is more based on numbers and combinations rather than the actual one on one combat of card vs card.
Gwent – iOS, Android, PC.
Gwent is a card game that originated in the video game Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It is a turn-based game where two players compete against each other by playing cards from their respective decks. The aim of the game is to win two out of three rounds, with each round being won by either having the most points at the end of the round, or by playing the last card.
Gwent is played with a deck of cards that represent different units, such as soldiers, monsters or mages. Each unit has its own unique abilities and stats, which can be used to attack or defend against your opponent’s units.
The game is easy to learn but difficult to master, and is highly tactical. It is one of the most popular mobile strategy card games available.
The gameplay is more complex than other card games like Elder Scrolls Legends or Hearthstone, but none the less rewarding in ways that the others cannot match. The gameplay is more focused on building a powerful army of cards rather than 1 on 1 fights like in Elder Scrolls Legends which might be a turn off for some.
Hearthstone – iOS, Android, Mac, PC.
Hearthstone is a digital collectible card game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. Released in March 2014, it is a free-to-play game supported by microtransactions. Players compete against each other using pre-made decks of cards based on the Warcraft universe. Hearthstone is one of the most popular mobile strategy card video games available, and is praised for its accessibility, depth, and polish. It is available on iOS and Android devices.
The game is more in line with Elder Scroll Legends when it comes to one on one combat with cards, but I would say if you have played Magic The Gathering than this game is going to be more familiar to you since each player has HP and the cards need to be attacking each player in order to win unlike Gwent where is a points system that cards provide throughout the match.
Magic The Gathering Arena – iOS, MacOS, Windows, Android.
Magic The Gathering Arena is a mobile strategy card video game that allows players to collect and battle with cards representing creatures, spells, and other characters from the Magic: The Gathering universe. The game features both online and offline multiplayer modes, as well as singleplayer content. Players can earn new cards by winning matches and completing quests, or by purchasing booster packs. Magic The Gathering Arena is available for free on iOS and Android devices.
There are a ton of great mobile strategy card games available for iOS and Android devices plus PC and Mac. Whether you’re a fan of collectible card games, deck-building games, or anything in between, there’s bound to be a game that’s perfect for you and your friends since most of these games offer cross play.
